Молодіжний обмін у Німеччині «Time signals»
09.02.2017

Оголошено конкурс на участь у молодіжному міжнародному освітньому обміні «Time signals». Дедлайн - 1 березня 2017 р. (далі - англ.).

Are you curious about meeting people from other countries, improve your English while discovering history and debating about politics? So this international youth meeting should be your choice for spring 2017.

Date: 24th to 30th April 2017

Seminar House: Bildungsstätte Bredbeck in Germany, www.bredbeck.de

Language: English

Age of the participants: 16-25

Application deadline: 1st of March 2017

Date of confirmation – 10th  of March 2017

We will reflect on remembrance processes of National Socialism and Second World War in Germany, Poland and Ukraine and how they are represented in (our) families and societies. We will also deal with current history of Ukraine and selected topics from Germany and Poland. We will learn about how the area where we are spending this week together was influenced and changed by the forced labor of thousands of victims from all over Europe.

We will have guided tours, discussions, small group activities, tracing and mapping history by bike and on foot in the rural area and in Bremen.

We will speak about our world’s big challenges, like war and migration, the lack of tolerance and how we want to create a better future world.

Our group will live and study at the seminar house Bredbeck, near Osterholz-Scharmbeck (near Bremen in the north of Germany), a wonderful green environment with lots of space for creativity and sport activities. Check it out at https://www.bredbeck.de

Visiting the „Denkort Bunker Valentin“

The new remembrance site of the former submarine Bunker Valentin (www.denkort-bunkervalentin.de) is an interesting example of how we can face history from a today’s perspective. We will also visit the former “camp landscape”: prisoners of war, forced labor and a satellite camp that belonged to the biggest concentration camp in Northern Germany: “Neuengamme”, near Hamburg

Meeting other young persons from three countries

You don`t have prejudices? How often did you actually live closely together with people from other countries, sharing fears and hopes about the future, your personal likes and dislikes? There is a lot more to win than you might expect. It is about intercultural experience…

Reflection upon remembrance

Don’t worry. This study week does not include boring sessions on facts and figures of the Second World War as it might happen in classrooms. We will reflect on remembrance processes in our societies and have a deeper look on structures and responsibilities. You will get to know creative methods and we always connect history to present day questions.

Who can apply?

·         Everybody (aged between 16 and 25) from Poland, Ukraine or Germany who is interested in history and the different forms of remembrance in Poland, Germany and the Ukraine. No previous history knowledge is expected.

·         We are committed to diversity and inclusion within its projects, and encourage candidates of all genders, from all national, religious and ethnic backgrounds, living in Germany, Poland and the Ukraine, to apply.

·         Everybody who can speak English or who wants to improve her/his English.  There is no need to be perfect in speaking the language.
