Establishing English Writing Centers in Ukrainian Universities: Frameworks and Practices
Interested representatives from Ukrainian universities are invited to participate in a practical seminar organized by the English Writing Center at the English Language Department, the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, and the Regional English Language Office at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv

Venue: English Language Department, the NaUKMA (Room 408, 4th Floor, Building 3, 2 Skovorody St., Kyiv)
The seminar aims to summarize, share and discuss the experience of developing an English writing center, the first educational center of writing assistance in Ukraine to be based on the peer-to-peer support model, at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy with the focus on practical aspects of initiating, building, and maintaining the activities of such a center in the university framework.
The English Writing Center stakeholders and beneficiaries, including the U.S. Embassy RELO speaker, the U.S. English Fellow, Ms. Seneca Ryan, the Center tutors and the faculty members, will share with the seminar participants their insights and observations in the following topic areas:
 What is an English writing center and why do universities need it?
 Educational context and policy framework for establishing writing centers.
 Best practices, challenges, and logistics of an English writing center as viewed by the
o coordinators
o university faculty
o student tutors.
 Academic integrity and contemporary writing challenges.

Participants coming to Kyiv from other cities of Ukraine can be reimbursed their inter-city return tickets (bus or train costs) at the seminar upon submission of original travel documents.
