The Australian Embassy in Ukraine launches its Direct Aid Program (DAP) for 2017-18, and is now inviting applications from Ukrainian NGOs experienced in working with international partners.  Applications from community groups, schools and others will also be considered. 

The Direct Aid Program is a flexible, small grants scheme administered by Australian diplomatic missions around the world.  DAP projects are normally implemented over a relatively short period of time, with a budget of less than AUD 60,000.

In Ukraine the priority will be given to projects aimed at:

• education;
• health;
• women's empowerment and gender equality;
• supporting people with disabilities;
• assistance to people affected by the conflict in Eastern Ukraine (Internally Displaced People).

It is expected that successful applicants will be advised in late October 2017, and formalising contracts and disbursing funds to take place in November 2017. The grant recipients are encouraged to apply with projects which can be finalized by  the end of May 2018.

In 2016-2017 the Australian Embassy in Ukraine funded 7 DAP projects in Ukraine: 

• 'The Ukraine Prosthetic Assistance Project"  in Dnipro;
• “Don’t change climate – educate youth“ in Yaremche, Ivano-Frankivsk region;
• Community-oriented “I can” project in three towns of Eastern Ukraine;
• “Dental equipment for orphanage for children with disabilities” in Bila Tserkva, Kyiv region;
• “Creative art-therapy studio for children from disadvantaged families” in Kyiv; 
• “Improving the quality of life of war-affected people with disabilities in Ukraine” in Luhansk region;
• “Improving the social integration of internally displaced women”

Applications for funding of DAP projects for 2017-18 close at 5.00 pm on Monday 18 September 2017 (Kyiv time). Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
